A Successful Global Legal Hackathon

Over the weekend, iManage, in conjunction with the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), was proud to co-host a first-round site of the Global Legal Hackathon at the iManage HQ in Chicago. Lawyers, legal management professionals, students and developers joined forces to create practical — and often marketable — solutions to legal industry challenges and access to justice issues.

Participation exceeded expectations with 4 teams competing and presenting in front of a panel of distinguished judges from Chicago’s legal and tech community. Teams were formed and developed these ideas: A solution for legal engagement that provides an effective tool for pricing and budgeting legal issues; a solution to examine current healthcare regulations and laws to improve life expectancy; and a crowd-sourced review platform to help IT managers find cost-effective technology solutions for their law firms.

The winning team in Chicago created a platform called IntelliWHY that enables lawyers to track their performance, mental health and physical health on a personalized, individual level and helps administrators understand larger wellness trends and stressors on an anonymized, firmwide scale.

You can catch up on the action on Twitter via @iManageInc, @ALABuzz and @worldhackathon. This weekend’s winners will proceed to a second round in March — stay tuned!
